The lucky employee that received the $10,000 mink coat is named Cheryl Semien. Cheryl works as a cashier at Whataburger in Liberty, Texas. While she was working at 10 a.m at Whataburger, Cheryl received the $10,000 mink coat on her birthday. A customer visited the drive-thru Whataburger wearing the mink coat as she drove through Cheryl’s line. Cheryl complimented the woman and told her that she thought her coat was beautiful. She told an ABC affiliate that “She was a perfect stranger. I didn’t know this lady from nowhere…I didn’t see her come through my drive-thru window as long as I’ve been at Whataburger, for nine years.”

The woman then took off her coat and gave it to Cheryl by passing it through the drive-thru window. The mysterious woman who owned the coat is named Nadine. Nadine stated that Cheryl said, ‘That’s a beautiful coat,’ and she was so sweet…So I took it off and handed it to her. She didn’t ask for it, but she would have loved to have had one,” she said, that it just “felt right.” She goes on to say, “I do fun things, “It makes me happy” as she disclosed the coat’s value of $10,000. Nadine just wanted to do something nice for someone. Cheryl is overjoyed this holiday season because of Nadine’s gesture. Her fellow employees said that she “was yelling, as if she won a million dollars.” Nadine isn’t the only one who gives generously to restaurant employees. A group called TipsForJesus made headlines in late 2013 for giving huge tips at various random restaurants around the nation.

‘The Hobbit: The Battle Of The Five Armies’ Tops Box Office With 90 Million!

“The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies” topped the box office weekend with $56.2 million over the weekend and 90 million during the first week. Read more on the story after the jump!

“The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies” debuted with $56.2 million during the opening weekend. The movie made a total of $90.6 million since opening on Dec. 17 in the box office according to estimates. Peter Jackson is the director and producer of The Lord of the Rings trilogy and The Hobbit trilogy. “The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies” completely dominated the pre-Christmas box office. Jeff Goldstein, Warner Bros. distribution executive vice president, says, “There have been six visits to Middle-earth, and this is the final one, and it became so important for people to come out to see this in a big way…the action was there, and Peter made a fabulous movie.”

Even though “The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies” is the lowest opening of six of the Hobbit series is was still one of this season’s highest releases. The box office slipped 4% overall compared to the previous year which shows that ticket sales are in a slump during the holidays. Fox distribution chief Chris Aronson says, “I’m shocked that this weekend is a down weekend…we projected that all-industry the weekend would be up. It shows the marketplace is sluggish right now as we get through this last shopping weekend before the holiday.” Another final installment opening in second place was “Night at the Museum: Secret of the Tomb.” The comedy by Fox made $17.3 million, more then previous franchise installments. Sony studio’s, which is still trying to recover from hacking attacks linked to North Korea because of the movie “The Interview”, opened the “Annie” remake in the box office with $16.3 million. “Annie” was originally supposed to debut on Christmas, but Sony moved up its debut in order to create greater awareness during into the holiday season.

Student Raises 50,000 For A Homeless Man, But Why?

Dominique Harrison-Bentzen is the generous 22 year old who stated a crowd funding page to help a homeless man get back on his feet. A couple of weeks ago the young lady needed to hail a cab in the wee hours of the morning. However she didn’t have any cash on her so a homeless man named Robbie offered to pay $5 for her cab ride so she could get home safely. Robbie has been homeless for 7 months now and has been unable to get a job. So far the 22-year-old from the University of Central Lancashire has raised 50,000! Yes, so many people are inclined to get Robbie back on his feet. Read on to find out what the money will help the homeless man Robbie with…

Sony To Release The Interview For Free

Sony To Release The Interview For Free amidst cancelling the Christmas release of the movie due to threats. The company plans to release it on Crackle, a streaming service that is owned by Sony itself. Read more after the jump!

After receiving backlash from the general public and many actors around the country, Sony finally came to their senses and caved. No matter how credible or not the threat was, you don’t cancel showings of a movie that many have been anticipating. Seriously, my grandmother and I had a date lined up for the 5:45 showing of the movie so thanks a lot Sony. All jokes aside, I’m excited to finally get to see the movie whenever they decide to release it on Crackle and I hope the movie is all that it cracks up to be (no pun intended). If all this drama turns out to be just a publicity stunt by Sony… give your marketing team a raise because those f*****s deserve it. The amount of publicity the movie has received without Sony paying for it is astounding so to the hackers, only way to prove your threat was real is to shut down Crackle on its set release date. But so far, Sony – 1 Hackers – 0.

Sony Producer Against Black Actors IN Lead Roles: because international Audiences are Racist.There have been so many stories disclosed because of the Sony leaked emails. Sony executives spilling their thoughts about well known stars like Kevin Hart , Angelina Jolie, Leonardo Dicaprio,and Adam Sandler.Most recently an unnamed producer wrote in an email to Sony chairman Michael Lynton stating that films with black actors using Denzel Washington’s The Equalizer as an example don’t perform as well because the international audiences are “racist,” according to documents found in the Sony hack.The producer suggested that the two-time Oscar winner should not star in big-budget films because the international audience will not accept him in a leading role because he’s black. There is so much talk in recent news about race and entertainment and who will purchase black art or black entertainment. “I believe that the international motion picture audience is racist — in general pictures with an African American lead don’t play well overseas. When Sony made Equalizer they had to know that Denzel opens pics domestically, however the international gross would be somewhat limited,” the producer wrote in an Oct. 27 e-mail.

Lynton wrote back asking if he was saying The Equalizer “shouldn’t have been made or that African American actors should be excluded?”

“No, I am not saying ‘The Equalizer’ should not have been made or that African American actors should not have been used (I personally think Denzel is the best actor of his generation),” the producer responded. “Casting him is saying we’re ok with a double if the picture works,” the producer wrote, using a baseball analogy.

Washington is “reliable at the domestic [box office], safe, but has not had a huge success in years. I believe whenever possible the non event pictures, extra ‘bets’ should have a large inherent upside and be made for the right price. Here there isn’t a large inherent upside,” the producer wrote.

The producer also wrote that he or she hoped the statement wasn’t “inappropriate or provocative.”

The Equalizer grossed about $191 million worldwide. Approximately $90 million was earned overseas. The producer said this figure would have been higher if a black man wasn’t in the lead role.

According to the emails, a sequel to the movie was set for 2017, but would be “a double, with a remote chance of a home run.”

Calls to Denzel Washington’s publicist were not immediately returned.

Thug Tries To Kill NYPD Officer but the gun jams on him. Several hours after two NYPD officers were shot and killed in Brooklyn, a second man attempts the same thing but luckily the officers in pursuit of him did not suffer the same fate as the previous officers.

Reports from breaking911 claims that officers were responding to reports of a person shooting out of a window with a .357 revolver. The man was confronted by the NYPD and was ordered to stop. Instead of doing as they said, he tries to shoot them but to no avail. He is now in custody and more reports are sure to follow. This is just what we did not need, even more reason for police officers everywhere to be on edge and paranoid now of what people can do to them. To everyone out there, when dealing with police officers please do as they say. It’s very easy, especially now with the recent events for them to shoot first and later claim self-defense or claim that they felt their lives were threatened. Be very safe and alert! Taking his feelings to social media, the Compton rapper The Game went ahead and posted a picture of the head line about the New York City Police officers being murdered along with the caption of the report

“The DPRK has already launched the toughest counteraction. Nothing is more serious miscalculation than guessing that just a single movie production company is the target of this counteraction. Our target is all the citadels of the U.S. imperialists who earned the bitterest grudge of all Koreans,”

“Our toughest counteraction will be boldly taken against the White House, the Pentagon and the whole U.S. mainland, the cesspool of terrorism” and that groups like Guardians of Peace “are sharpening bayonets not only in the U.S. mainland but in all other parts of the world.”

The North Korean report also accused the U.S government of being behind the production of The Interview Film. Now The FBI said this week that North Korea is behind the cyber attack and threats that led to the studio putting The Interview film on hold or on a shelf for lack of better words, but what can you say?, even the conniving Dr. Evil thinks that killing off the interview movie is pretty lame for such an “EEEEEVILLL” dictator to demand .Seth Rogan is a star in the Interview film and a Canada Native. In Canada a “Suck It, Kim Jong un” Facebook campaign page has started for planned protest screenings of the movie to raise money for charity

The award was presented to him at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Los Angeles by Big Bang Theory actress Kaley Cuoco-Sweeting and Frozen’s Josh Gad, who costar with him in the new film The Wedding Ringer (out Jan. 16).

The award comes on the heels of Hart’s role in the new Chris Rock comedy Top Five. He was also featured in the summer hit Think Like a Man Too, and kicked off his successful year with a starring role alongside Ice Cube in Ride Along, a box office smash that already has a sequel in the works.

MORE UPDATES, More Statements and Antics Surround Brooklyn Police Shooting that took the lives of Officer Wenjian Liu and Rafael Ramos yesterday in Bed-Stuy Brooklyn. As G train service in Brooklyn/Queens is now restored, a memorial has been set up for the officers by their Brooklyn precinct and symbols around the city are up. NYPD officers lined Woodhull hospital to salute slain officers as ambulance drove them away. The official statements are in from President Obama, Attorney General Eric Holder, NYPD Commissioner William Bratton, Mayor Bill de Blasio and antics from the NYPD Union against the mayor at news conference from Woodhull Hospital last night.

“There’s blood is on many hands tonight. We tried to warn…” said angrily by Patrick Lynch, head of the NYPD Union against #BlackLivesMatter protestors and the mayor…

More Statements and Antics Surround Brooklyn Police Shooting as we continue to add to the previous updates.

Flags are being flown at half staff around the city including at 1 Police Plaza in memorial of Officers Wenjian Liu and Rafael Ramos who were murdered in an ambush yesterday afternoon, by also deceased 28 year old Ismaaiyl Brinsley in Myrtle and Tomkins Avenues in Brooklyn. It’s reported that Wenjian Liu had just been married two months ago. A memo circulated last night by police headquarters to slow down the work load of the NYPD and to “only make arrests if absolutely necessary.” Clearly more effort to calm down tensions and prevent any more incidents in this situation’s wake.

The precinct of the officers has since been draped in ceremonial bunting of black and purple. In addition residents, family members and supporters are leaving flowers, candles and well wishes at the memorial site. It’s reported a bible has been left open at the memorial, at Psalms 23.

More Statements and Antics Surround Brooklyn Police Shooting as Reverend Al Sharpton and Eric Garner’s mother held a brief press conference to add to his previous statement from his National Action Network in Harlem. Also calling for a meeting between faith leaders this week to examine the situation’s effect on communities and the #BlackLivesMatter movement. Eric Garner’s mother says she is sorry that this has happened and people have been protesting peacfully as whole. Sharpton adds the connection of the movements and blaming the mayor is not at all a solution. He continues in saying:

“We are in intense threat of people who are misguided, of an ugly spirit who wishes to connect our names and the mayor to something that the media is already twisting. This is not a generational thing, it is a morals thing. There are those committed to non-violence and not reckless anarchism.”

As for More Statements and Antics Surround Brooklyn Police Shooting, the the Head of the NYPD Union who’s been very vocal as previously reported made it clear that the Union is not in support of Mayor de Blasio. They actually came to Woodhull Hospital last night and lined the hallways into the street with their backs turned as the mayor left the press conference. (The dramatics!)

Attorney General Eric Holder has now weighed in and among other things had this to say:

“I condemn this afternoon’s senseless shooting of two New York City police officers in the strongest possible terms. This was an unspeakable act of barbarism, and I was deeply saddened to hear of the loss of these two brave officers in the line of duty.

“Our nation must always honor the valor — and the sacrifices — of all law enforcement officers with a steadfast commitment to keeping them safe. This means forging closer bonds between officers and the communities they serve, so that public safety is not a cause that is served by a courageous few, but a promise that’s fulfilled by police officials and citizens working side by side.”

Some say the time for “forging better relationships” is too little, too late.

President Obama said in his statement:

“I unconditionally condemn today’s murder of two police officers in New York City. These officers will not be going home to their loved ones and for that, there is no justification. Officers who serve and protect our communities risk their own safety for ours every single day and they deserve our respect and gratitude every single day.”

Attorney General Holder has said the Feds will provide “every resource possible” in the investigation of this homicide-suicide.

Brooklyn resident Alexander Rusti was next door neighbor of Officer Ramos and is still stunned to hear of the deaths. “Its unbelievable” he says, “I used to see him everyday, going to see his son, to play basketball.”

There’s more work coming from the Stillmatic Queens native as Nas Documentary on BBoying, Music and the Human Brain is gearing up for release in 2015. In collaboration with General Electric (GE) the major energy, medical equipment and healthcare corporation and VEVO, the now independent spin off conglomerate of Youtube’s music department, the project is said to examine the effects of BBoying/BGirling (commonly known as “breakdancing”), and music on the human brain–with scientific facts, data and live footage of Hip Hop from around the world (so #Apparently it’s not dead)…

Nas Documentary on BBoying, Music and the Human Brain comes after the announcement of the Time is Illmatic documentary he released earlier this season, in 20th anniversary of the infinitely classic “Illmatic” album of 1994. Entitled “Shake the Dust,” the film focuses on poor neighborhoods and villages around the world that have been positively impacted by Hip Hop, dance, and music–further emphasized by scientific study on just how much of an impact the elements really have. Nas is slated as a producer but is also interviewed in the film.

But this isn’t reeeeally about Hip Hop–I mean it is, but it isn’t. For the record Nas IS a producer and IS in it and this IS a dope project, great for the culture. But ijs…

Many have commented on the trend of major companies looking to maximize (or capitalize) on the attention of consumers and investors with the use of “cultural gatekeepers.” The Nas Documentary on BBoying, Music and the Human Brain would be the latest included by that measurement. With the recent news of Q-Tip’s strike back to the Iggy Azalea/Azalia Banks/Action Bronson racism in music fiasco, on top of #BlackLivesMatter the air is sensitive though people are easily distracted. In contrast to being just “another brick in the wall” Nas has been very into #BlackLivesMatter activism, on top of his recent statements regarding racism in America, and comments on telling every child in America black or white to “know their history,” have been further statements that Nas is nobody’s puppet.

Still, we all know corporate is corporate, and Hip Hop is a billion dollar enterprise that’s not really and totally in the hands of the people who created it as a result. As for #facts, GE is actually looking to position itself ideally among the tech giants like Facebook and Google. Furthermore as the web and Hip Hop community have been heated with recent battles over the white artists and major industries misappropriating Hip Hop culture, there’s good reason to stay WOKE. In official statement it’s said:

“GE wants to emphasize the connection between neuroscience and music, a topic the company plans to keep exploring next year…”

Boxing: Legendary Boxer Muhammad Ali Is In the Hospital

Famed boxer Muhammad Ali was admitted to an undisclosed hospital Saturday with pneumonia, his spokesman Bob Gunnell said.

Ali’s treatment prognosis is good, he said.

“Ali, who suffers from Parkinson’s disease, is being treated by his team of doctors and is in stable condition,” Gunnell said in a statement.

The illness was caught early, and Ali, 72, is not expected to be in the hospital long.

“At this time, the Muhammad Ali family respectfully requests privacy,” the statement said.

Ali was born Cassius Clay and won an Olympic gold medal as a light-heavyweight at age 18.

In 1964, he became world heavyweight champion in an upset victory against then champion Sonny Liston, according to Ali’s official website.

Shortly thereafter changed his name to Muhammad Ali to reflect his conversion to Islam.

The boxer was also known for his protest against the Vietnam War and refusal to be drafted into service out of religious conviction.

He retired from boxing in 1981 and announced his diagnosis with Parkinson’s Disease three years later.

(Video) Obama Statement on North Korea’s Sony Hack: I’m Still HNIC

BREAKING: Early morning Obama Statement on North Korea’s Sony Hack in that he understands the executive decisions Sony had to make regarding the cyber attack–which sent the online and news world reeling as well as shut down premieres around the country for “The Interview” movie this week. While acknowledging Sony had to handle their business he was quick to remind that as President he’s the TOP exec and in charge for a reason. In other words…*Flex voice* –FALL BACK!!!

His attitude has been rather “I’m still HNIC” lately and that’s what was basically echoed in this morning’s Obama Statement on North Korea’s Sony Hack. Not only did Obama denounce the high significance of the attacks, saying the expected “America will not be intimidated” but adding a strong “this is not war, it was a cyber attack” (perspective, especially from someone who’s the Commander in Chief of the United States). But he also made strong comments about the nature of Sony’s damage control. The POTUS was sure to slide in, “had they called me” (#BOSS) and urged for Sony’s mistakes in the matter to not set an example for companies to follow and cyber vandals to go in on.

Obama Statement on North Korea’s Sony Hack included the following highlights. As Sony Entertainment CEO Michael Lynton commented earlier that “Obama and the public are mistaken as to what actually happened” (oh worrrrd??)…Obama came back, essentially with the same (oh worrrrd?, well…) and said:

I was pretty sympathetic to the fact that they have business considerations that they got to make. Had they talked to me directly about this decision, I might have called the movie theater chains and distributors and asked them what the story was”

It’s not that Obama is totally blaming Sony, in fact, he’s trying to keep America a “free country” (coughs), saying further:

“If we set a precedent in which a dictator in another country can disrupt through cyber, a company’s distribution chain or its products, and as a consequence we start censoring ourselves, that’s a problem.”

He closed by stating true #facts and letting it be known that a lot more has to be done.

“And it’s a problem not just for the entertainment industry, it’s a problem for the news industry. CNN has done critical stories about North Korea. What happens if in fact there is a breach in CNN’s cyberspace? Are we going to suddenly say, we are not going to report on North Korea?”

Sony CEO Lynton is said to be “disappointed” by the POTUS statement. (Can’t please everybody).

While the Obama Statement on North Korea’s Sony Hack comes in good timing what’s your opinion of Obama lately? While none of us can really know what goes on behind closed doors we’ve been seeing a lot of what he’s dealing with this week alone. The antics during his support of the “I Can’t Breathe” athletes in professional sports, changing history with the opening of US and Cuba relations (have you read our “5 Things We’ll See Now That the US and Cuba Beef is Over”???–things are already happening!) and having to get a grip on Sony and North Korea.

No telling what other proxy wars, meltdowns, and crisis are on his plate. Whether or not you agree with his decisions the Obama Statement on North Korea’s Sony Hack was made to remind us that there IS a top man. Obama: “He is I and I am him.” He’s also set to make his “State of the Union” speech later today.
