With countless hip-hop heavyweights from Jay Z to Kanye West to Eminem and becoming known for its annual Freshman class covers, XXL Magazine has been one of the leading hip-hop resources for industry news and what’s hot in music. Following their October/November issue, XXL will now longer be releasing print issues, and will instead be going digital-only.

According to The New York Post, the moves comes as the publication has been bought by Townsquare Media. XXL will now focus on newer forms of media and revenue streams.

“We think XXL has strong potential in both the digital and live events market,” Bill Wilson, the chief content officer of Townsquare, told the Post. The company operates 331 radio stations, as well as a number of websites.

Spin Media also made an announcement earlier this month that VIBE has plans to stop producing the print edition of that franchise as well.

Print is becoming a dying recourse. Everything is going digital.
